Periodontal Associates

Periodontal Associates was founded in 1974 by Dr. Ken Versman in Aurora, Colorado. Over the decades, the practice became one of the region’s most respected centers for periodontal and implant care.

Dr. Doug Heller joined the Aurora office in 1991, followed by Dr. Eric Beckman in 2012, continuing the founders’ commitment to excellence and patient-centered care. In 2018, Dr. Daniel Thousand joined the team and helped expand the practice by acquiring a well respected periodontal practice of Dr. Paul Glick in Littleton, CO. We later relocated the Littleton office to its present location in a larger, state-of-the-art space in Centennial, CO.

I’ve been working with Dr. Heller regularly for a couple years maybe a few years now. When I first met Dr. Heller, I had gingivitis. My regular dentist referred me to whom he referred to as a “specialist”. My mouth was in such bad shape. I thought I was going to end up with dentures. My gums were purple. They would bleed when I brushed. It would get loose. Dr. Heller said that my teeth were savable. Honestly, I didn’t believe him. I wish I had before and after pictures. I hope they do at Periodontal Associates. Because there’s been a complete transformation of my oral health. My gums used to be purple they’re pink now my gums used to bleed every time I brush my teeth before and now they don’t. I am also a lot happier because I’m not in pain. Also, just a couple days ago I noticed my bank account received $888 for Periodontal rewards. This amount was added to my account by Dr. Heller and everybody at Periodontal Associates. All of the people that work with him are very pleasant and I am very grateful that I met these kind of people. If you ever read this, Dr. Heller, I just wanna say thanks a lot man, you’re awesome, trustworthy, and good at what you do. I couldn’t ask for a better dentist! I love my smile! Dr. Beckman is an artist :-). I didn't even know what was possible, but Dr. Beckman did a beautiful job with the crown lengthening, and I healed quickly with no issue. On top of it all, he and his team are warm, personable, and always put me at ease. I also love the beautiful succulent they sent in the mail as a thank you. So thoughtful. I had an amazing experience with Dr. Thousand and his whole team! After having a pin tuck surgery only 2 years prior with a different periodontist. I was in need of gum surgery again and was absolutely devastated to have to go through another surgery. I found Periodontal Associates through my dentist. I am now 4 weeks post surgery and can’t believe how easy the pre-procedure process went, the actual surgery and recovery was so smooth and my recovery was seamless!     Having a need to explore an implant can feel daunting and overwhelming,  however, I felt at ease with the staff at Periodontal Associates Centennial! The Receptionist (Lisa) was extremely friendly from the get! The Surgical Assistant, Travis, was kind and reassuring during my scans. Dr. Thousand was extremely knowledgeable,  approachable and kind! He explained the upcoming procedure extremely well, answered my questions and listened to my concerns. I'm grateful that my Dentist recommended Dr. Thousand and his team.

    I had my initial exam with Dr. Douglas Heller about 1 month ago. Everyone was very professional and courteous. I had some gum grafts by Dr. Heller on Wednesday and feel like I am progressing well. Scheduled for follow up & suture removal in about 2 1/2 weeks. A Denver native, Dr. Heller has practiced periodontics in Aurora since 1991 and has taught at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine for more than 25 years.
