Education and Training
Dr. Thousand earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado Boulder, where he studied Integrative Physiology and Molecular/Cellular Developmental Biology. During his studies, he served as a teaching assistant in anatomy and physiology for three years.
He went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine in 2015, followed by a Periodontal Surgical Residency and Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) in 2018.
His advanced training focused on implant surgery, bone regeneration, and Laser Periodontal Treatment. He has spent years learning surgical techniques in a residency and hospital setting and didn’t just take a weekend course in Mexico to learn implant placement and treatments for complications.
Professional Experience and Continuing Education
Based at the Centennial location of Periodontal Associates, Dr. Thousand has been practicing for more than seven years. He provides advanced periodontal and implant care with a focus on precision, comfort, and long-term results, helping patients restore the health and function of their gums, bone, and teeth.
Committed to ongoing professional growth, Dr. Thousand participates in multiple Spear Study Clubs focused on implants, soft and hard tissue augmentation, hygiene, and interdisciplinary collaboration involving periodontics, orthodontics, and osseous surgery. He pursues continuing education in laser dentistry, bone regeneration, and 3D printing to ensure patients benefit from the latest innovations in care. Additionally, Dr. Thousand lectures on a variety of topics related to periodontal disease treatment and care at Periodontal Associates study clubs and other events.

Outside the office, Dr. Thousand enjoys spending time with his wife, Liz, their daughter, Maren and their corgi Bacon. Dentistry runs in his family, his father, uncle, brother, and several cousins are also dental professionals.
An avid adventurer, Dr. Thousand spends his free time skydiving, base jumping, paragliding, rock climbing, scuba diving, snowboarding, skiing, mountain biking, rafting, camping, and mountaineering. He loves being in the office but when he isn’t he seeks the calm any adventurous spirit would.
